The Dragonflies Curriculum

An online program developed by Rabata which focuses on spiritual development for youth, covering belief, character development, and value systems. The class is taught by one of Rabata’s certified instructors in a welcoming, fun, and engaging environment.



Students will learn about: 


  • The spiritual heart, this life, and the hereafter

  • Right and wrong actions

  • Doing good deeds and cultivating a deep connection to Allah (swt)

  • Reflecting upon the Quran and Sunnah

  • Prophetic virtues that help us grow in our connection to Allah (swt), our communities, and the people around us

  • Notables figures in Islamic history, from prophets to companions to modern day Muslims

  • Performing acts of worship with confidence and love

Globe Skimmers: Girls 11-12 years old

  • The obligatory prayers - How do I bring humility and presence to my prayer?

  • Jumu'ah and praying in congregation - How do I lead? How do I follow? What is the Friday prayer tradition?

  • The Miraculous Quran - How does the Quran help us develop our spiritual heart? What are some informative details about the Quran?

  • The Quran is a wealth of knowledge - What are the sacred verses about the Quran that are in the Quran? What are some special chapters and verses? Why are they particularly special?

  • The People of Suffah - The Quran teachers

  • Dhul-Hijjah - What is the story of Medina? What are the rites of Hajj? How can we celebrate pilgrimage at home?

Class Day & Time


Sundays 12:00 - 1:00 pm CST

Session Dates: April 13 - May 18


Please note: 

1. This class is designed for girls who are currently 11 and 12 years old. 

2. Enrollment into the Dragonflies program is on a per-student basis. If two (or more) students are planning to attend a class together by sharing a screen, each student will need to enroll for class individually. 

3. For the privacy and protection of all our students, classes are NOT recorded. Students must attend live sessions. 

4. Program Policy: Once the session begins, NO refunds are allowed.

Certificate of Participation


A certificate of participation will be given to students who complete the class.

This class meets once a week for one hour.

Instructor

Anse Dr. Sana Shireen Ahmed has completed her Ribaat Teacher Certification through the Ribaat Academic Institute. She is a doctor who works as a “disease detective” investigating outbreaks and has authored public health articles. She enjoyed combining her learning with travel, having studied Arabic in Egypt and tropical medicine in Peru. Anse Sana has taught elementary- aged students sira and basic tajwid at the Islamic Society of Northwest Suburbs and is a Ribaat volunteer. She loves spending time with her four sisters, journalling, hiking, and raising plants. She lives in Illinois with her husband.
